Desktop Video Conferencing with Hydra
May 28th, 2008 by Video Conferencing Expert
Hydra, a new video conferencing solution from Aethra, provides a ‘no limits’ visual communications network to its suite of online collaboration products. The new application extends the scope of its traditional room-based video conferencing and telepresence to now easily include remote desktop users with an internet browser and webcam. Remote users can now join their company’s larger video conference sessions from anywhere they have an internet connection.
Hydra takes advantage of the powerful 9-site MCU embedded in the Aethra X-Line endpoints to provide interactive voice and online collaboration sessions, with high quality video and web conferencing for all participants regardless if they’re connected through a high-end conference room solution or a remote PC. The flexible architecture of the application makes it valuable for small and large businesses alike.
Unique highlights of Hydra include:
- Only solution not requiring external gateway
- Only solution designed specifically to work with an embedded MCU (9X MCU – Aethra Vega X5 and Vega X7 systems)
- Only system capable of activating a multi-videoconference by calling both IP and ISDN endpoints directly from a PC
- Only system not requiring external gateway for mixed mode IP/ISDN calls
- Only system not requiring external firewall traversal devices to access the company LAN during a multi-videoconference
The Aethra solution enables videoconferencing to expand from the traditional room-based endpoints environment to the desktop scenario, allowing all participants to share the same interactive visual experience, through web conferences, online meetings and webinars, regardless of their physical location.
